Treatment for infertility are often lengthy, stressful and too expensive. To overcome these problems and for answers “natural” to the problem, Korean researchers conducted a study in which a group of women with fertility problems have been treated with acupuncture, moxibustion (pictured) and herbs.

The 104 women recruited for the study, before participating in the project were selected based on various evaluation criteria that included the chronological age (the average age was 32 years with a range of between 26 and 41 years), how long he had been diagnosed with infertility and possible treatments for which they had already referred. The treatment with acupuncture, mix and herbs Koreans had to be completed after 6 menstrual cycles and complete between February 2005 and April 2006. The following comments included the proportion of women who were pregnant, any event during pregnancy such as morbidity and mortality of the fetus, spontaneous abortions.

After six months of treatment and until the end of the study continued with only 23 women including 14 women were pregnant. Of these 10 have completed the regular pregnancy, while there were 4 spontaneous abortions. In total the 14 pregnancies in 23 women treated equivalent to a success of 60.9%. Commenting on the results, researchers say that the package standard therapy for unexplained infertility in women under study is safe for children and women, when administered by licensed professionals. However, the problem of drop-outs caused by lack of funds to continue the therapy has shown a real barrier. Because of this, the researchers hope that we can undertake a program that includes health care subsidies to enable all women who want to follow this treatment seems to be effective.
