We should not insist on the broad, unfortunately well-grounded, health authorities and experts about the rise of overweight and obesity in developed countries. In Spain, for example, 38.5% of those over 20 years are overweight or obese. This is having, and have more in the future, a serious impact on quality of life for broad segments of the population.
The problem is that many solutions are targeted, but there is no unanimity on what to do. Forgetting of remedies “miracle”, the instruments in the hands of the experts seem to be many (surgery, drugs, prescription of different types of diet, exercise …) but do not know for sure what combination of them is the most efficient. At this point, focusing on diet and exercise, appears Pronaf.
Pronaf is a multidisciplinary research, sponsored by the Ministry of Education and Science and with the support of the Hospital Universitario La Paz and the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport (INEF), both in Madrid. The experts actively involved in this study were gathered volunteers to undergo, from January to July 2010, various programs that combine diet and exercise. Previously, each patient is a genetic test. We use the most advanced technologies and novel tools, by highly qualified specialists.
It is known that there is some consensus among experts about the instruments used in the fight against overweight, if surgery reserved for severe cases, the combination of diet and exercise seems to be as effective, provided that internalize and are carried out indefinitely. Regarding the former, there are many diets “serious” (caloric restriction of fat, carbohydrate, Mediterranean diet restricted in calories, …), but that there is agreement among scholars about the comparative performances of each.
Regarding the latter, the exercise, something similar happens. There are many types of exercise (muscle, aerobic, high intensity, submaximal, …), involving different metabolic responses of the body. Because not only have the calories consumed during exercise. For example, used to be considered that physical activity is more profitable submaximal aerobic, ie, long-lived, as was the more calories consumed.
However, recent research has shown that exercise load (eg weight), changes of muscle fat and calorie intake is not limited to the period during which you exercise, but extends throughout all day. How to combine diet and exercise in the best way possible? Answering this question is the objective of the project at hand. Their findings may be used by doctors, nutritionists, physical trainers … the benefit of all who should lose weight and then maintain it.
