Uric Acid for Parkinson
The chemical urate (uric acid is monosodium urate), which is known to cause gout apparently decrease the progression of Parkinson’s disease, according to a study by U.S. scientists.
Uric acid have significant antioxidant properties, both as a free radical trapping, but as a chelating agent, it is considered that this metabolite of purines constitute about 60% of the total antioxidant capacity of serum. (In fact there are studies that evaluate the possibility if high doses of uric acid given systemically may have antioxidant effects as vitamin C).
According to the report published in Archives of Neurology, urate would be powerful antioxidants that act against cellular damage caused by oxygen, which contribute to Parkinson’s.
Surprised?. …Apparently in these cases a slightly higher level of uric acid would be good. The funny thing is that normally in the diet of people with Parkinson’s are given lots of omegas and fish and not enough red meat, which would help raise the level of uric acid.
With the support of the Foundation, which sponsors the actor Michael J. Fox, researchers recruit 90 patients newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease for treatment with a chemical which helps produce a urate called inosine, which is thought that might slow the process of disease progression.
As mentioned earlier, red meat, offal such as liver, seafood, soups and some alcohol can increase the level of these blood urate. However, much of this could also result in gout.
